Hi everyone, my name is Abbie Patenaude and I am the VP of Programming. My job is to schedule all of the speakers that come to our chapter meetings and even some of the socials that we have during the school year! There are so many different topics in PR that I want to make sure that we cover as many of them as we can in the next two semesters.
I am currently a senior here at Grand Valley with a major in Public Relations and Advertising (never would have guessed that right?) and a minor in Hospitality and Tourism Management. I joined PRSSA during winter semester of my freshman year so I have pretty much been with PRSSA since I started here at GV. Joining this organization was probably one of the best career choices I could have made! Along with PRSSA, I am involved in Greek life here on campus, which has been an amazing journey as well! I can’t say which sorority I’m in right now because I will be Rho Gamma (recruitment mentor) this upcoming Fall 2017 Recruitment. Part of that job involves temporarily disassociating from my sorority to be an unbiased mentor. But I am looking forward to fall rush season! I am also on the Love Your Melon crew here on campus, which has been a fun and eye-opening experience.
I currently work for Grand Valley’s Conference and Event Planning Office on the Pew Campus. It has been a great internship experience so far and I’m enjoying planning events and getting more involved with the university. So if anyone needs any conference rooms or specialty spaces booked on the downtown campus, feel free to email me (p.s. my work email is email@example.com).
Just a few fun facts: I was born and raised over on the east side of Michigan in Novi. I have three younger siblings and a dog that I seriously miss so much. (She’s a goldendoodle that might as well be a teddy bear because she is so snugly). I love reading, coffee, crafting, interior design, working out and pretty much any food with dark chocolate in it!
I know this year is going be a good one and I’m looking forward to hearing what advice the PR professionals have for us! If you have any questions or have specific topics you want to learn more about next year, feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Looking forward to seeing you all at our first chapter meeting!
