I’m the VP of Professional Development this academic year. I’m a senior majoring in Advertising and Public Relations with a PR emphasis. I’m also an account executive for Grand PR and a sports marketing intern for GVSU Athletics. This is my second year in PRSSA, and I’m thrilled to be organizing this year’s agency tours for our lovely members who deserve the best. We will meet professionals and learn about what they do to dominate the PR and advertising industry. I’m a PR person through and through. I knew right after my first PR class, CAP 220, that I was in the right major for me. When I finally made it to a PRSSA meeting, I knew I found my people.
A fun (and weird) fact about me is that I treat my S’well water bottle like my first-born child. I’m rarely seen without it, and I will travel almost any distance to retrieve it if it’s tragically left behind. I have four siblings, three older brothers and one younger sister. I was born and raised right here in West Michigan, and I’m in love with the city of Grand Rapids. My dream job would have to be working at Experience Grand Rapids where I could constantly promote this flourishing city. I can’t imagine living anywhere else. The only exception might be New Zealand.
Some things you will find me doing include watching any episode of The Office on any given day at any given time while eating popcorn. I especially love hanging out at the dog park with my fur-baby, Sadie, and my life partner, Ben. I also have three goldfish who can chill out already because they are huge. You can find me meditating and practicing yoga asanas in an attempt to quiet my thoughts and de-stress. Finally, at least once every summer you will find me in a remote location experiencing nature and carrying my food for the week on my back. One of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had was cave swimming in Lake Superior under Minors Castle.
I’m fueled by Simpatico coffee and berry flavored La Croix, and if you can’t remember how to spell my first name, just ask and never assume. The best piece of advice I can give is to simply be involved, in school and in life. I would not be where I am today without getting involved with PRSSA and GrandPR. Trust me, you’ll meet some wonderful people and you will learn a lot from them.
